Abstract The unique Himalayan ecosystems are repositories to the wild populations of diverse flora and fauna. high value medicinal aromatic plant species (MAPs) an example same. Since time immemorial, these MAPs have been traditionally used by local inhabitants eventually developed a market all over world. Increasing demand engenders over-extraction species, unsustainable collection further catalyses decline in populations. current communication raises conservation concern on rapid population Fritillaria cirrhosa D.Don Western Himalaya. Harvested traded with new trade name i.e., ‘ Jangli lehsun ’ probably disguise common Allium is facing tremendous due its illegal harvesting Himachal Pradesh. Further, F. faces threat unorganized, over-extraction, premature bulbs, coupled hidden markets functioning parallelly. Considering that this valuable under multiple threats being medicinally important plant, priority should be given for through in-situ such as identification areas ex-situ methods propagation multiplication. ensure long-term , prioritized strategies strengthening Biodiversity Management Committees, capacity building awareness programs key stakeholders sustainable would practical solution.
